The Sales Process

  1. Approaching the Customer
  2. Determining Needs
  3. Presenting the Product
  4. Overcoming Objections
  5. Closing the Sale
  6. Suggestion Selling
  7. Relationship Building

Assignment #1: Skit.  Create a skit using xtranormal.com or by simply typing a skit into your post.  Your skit will need to consist of dialogue used during the 7 steps of the sales process listed above.  Make sure that you use 1 of the 3 approach methods: (service approach, greeting approach, merchandise approach).

Assignment #2: Become a customer in the sales process.  Go to some retail setting and encourage a salesperson to approach you by becoming a consumer whether you are serious or not about buying the product.  Keep mental notes during the process and write a summary of your experience (dialogue would be better yet).  List which of the 3 approach methods they used: (service, greeting, or merchandise).

Assignment #3: While in a retail setting, “become a salesperson” by observing a couple customers.  See if you can determine their needs and what they are interested in by observing them.
